Neami National / Community services

Connecting People and IT

Employee lifecycle automation has reduced routine IT administration and brought People and IT teams closer together, with checks built into the daily process.

People changes, with checks built in

Joining, changing roles and leaving feed into daily employee data checks. Changes within the volume limits can be applied; volumes above the limits pause processing for review.

Approximate daily volume; one employee may have several changes.

What needed to change

Joining, changing roles and leaving all depend on accurate employee information. We identified the data important to Neami and developed a data model and management plan around it.

What we built

Automation for onboarding, offboarding, employee details, licences and permissions, plus employee emails and onboarding information. Daily batches check all employees across about 60 data points.

Changes above daily count or percentage limits pause processing for review. We retain rollback data, and offboarding includes checks and a delayed review before deletion.

Less routine work. Better coordination.

Neami has clearer data practices and better coordination between People and IT. The solution has operated for approximately four years, handling around 20 onboardings and a similar number of offboardings each week. Comans continues to support the automation and its data management.

Deakin Childcare (DACCC) / Daycare operations

Moving beyond paper records

Staff now use live applications for everyday daycare administration, with reporting for audits and ongoing support from Comans.

Three apps for everyday work.

Paper records branch into three related applications: room management, parent communications, and staff time and leave. These are separate applications, not consecutive steps.

Paper records
  • Room management
  • Parent communications
  • Staff time and leave

What needed to change

DACCC used pen and paper for administrative work. We built practical applications for the records and communications staff use every day.

What we built

  • Room management with real-time adult and child counts, staff alerts, and recorded numbers and ratios.
  • An email manager to prepare and send parent communications.
  • A timesheet application for employee time and leave.

The applications also include AI reporting that produces statistics to support audit preparation.

Digital tools in daily use.

All three applications are live. Comans continues to support the applications and provides ongoing desktop support for Deakin Childcare. Staff have digital tools for work previously handled on paper, with recorded counts, ratios and reporting available for audit preparation.

Saputo / Australian manufacturing

Putting recovery into practice.

We helped Saputo put recovery plans into practice across its Australian manufacturing plants.

A recovery exercise in practice

A recovery exercise restores historian data, and IT engineers then validate the restored data. The successful result applies to this tested recovery scenario.

  1. RestoreHistorian data
  2. ValidateWith IT engineers

What needed to change

Saputo’s Australian manufacturing plants had backups, but recovery documentation was limited and disaster recovery had not been practised.

What we delivered

We helped create recovery processes for business IT and the operational technology used to run and monitor manufacturing. Plant audits and recovery exercises covered systems, software and recorded operational data.

Evidence from a recovery exercise.

IT engineers validated a successful restore of historian data, which records manufacturing operations. This result provides evidence for that tested recovery scenario.

Transdev / Rail operations · Wellington, New Zealand

Supporting a safe operator transition

Transdev needed to transition Wellington’s rail service to a new asset operator, with safety and contractual requirements central to the work.

Comans built network systems and applications that helped deliver the transition safely.
