Transdev NSW operates an extensive bus network on behalf of the NSW Government and provides regular route services, dedicated school services and charter services annually to the Upper North Shore, South and South Western Sydney communities.
They also work in partnership with Transport NSW to cater for Sydney’s growing demand for transport and to advocate for greater use of public transport by highlighting its social and environmental benefits.
The Challenge
Transdev needed to design an ICT network for a new project called ‘Transport On Demand’ which is a New On-Demand trial services allow users to book a vehicle to pick you up from home or a convenient nearby location and take you to a local transport hub or point of interest.
This project called for advanced onboard communication capabilities and effective data management.
Our Solution
Comans Services designed and implemented a solution that allowed the buses to always stay in contact with essential data services. This solution included
- WAN and internet technology installation inside the buses
- The creation of a power system to keep the equipment powered on and safe
- Routing and networking protocols for this solution
The Results
Now successfully deployed, the new on-demand public transport services have improved convenience, flexibility and connectivity within the existing public transport network.
