The Grollo name is synonymous with construction and property in Australia. From its origins as a concreting business established in 1940s Melbourne by Luigi Grollo, supported by his wife Emma and sons Bruno and Rino, the Grollo Group has grown to become an industry and community leader.
The Challenge
The need for replacing the current server hardware has arisen due to the age of the current infrastructure and the need for a highly available environment. Some of the current servers have been operating on the network since late 2006 and a number of the hardware warranty contracts have expired.
With an ever-increasing need to provide improved performance and flexibility while reducing costs associated with providing network services to users, Grollo Group needed to make the transition to VMware virtual infrastructure. VMware will allow Grollo Group to consolidate their server infrastructure to a smaller physical hardware footprint while providing higher availability of servers through VMware technologies.
Our Solution
Grollo Group currently runs a mixed server operating system environment consisting of Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008. that all need to be migrated to a new VMware environment.

The Results
All workloads and servers were migrated to the brand new SAN and VMware installation, consolidated their server infrastructure to a smaller physical hardware footprint while providing higher availability of servers to the business. This was achieved without any outages or disruptions to the business.
