SharePoint “P: drive” modernisation

Caspak moved their legacy file shares to SharePoint and OneDrive, while keeping the mapped drive experience staff are used to. We also put Microsoft 365 backups in place so data could be recovered if needed.

Client

Caspak

Timeline

Migration: 6 to 10 weeks. Training: 1 to 2 weeks.

Key Tooling

SharePoint Online | OneDrive | Veeam (Microsoft 365)

Outcome

A smoother experience for users, lower storage overheads, and Microsoft 365 data that can be restored when needed.

Challenge

  • Caspak relied on a large P: drive that was hard to manage, back up and scale.
  • Users struggled to find files, and backups added ongoing cost and performance issues.

What we did

  • Reviewed the content and cleaned up old storage.
  • Planned and ran the migration: metadata mapping, tidied permissions, and staff training.
  • Kept a mapped drive experience (OneDrive/SharePoint shortcuts) so staff could keep working the way they were used to.
  • Implemented Microsoft 365 backups and retention policies.

Outcome

  • A smoother experience for users, lower storage overheads, and Microsoft 365 data that can be restored when needed.
  • IT had one place to manage files, plus a restore plan that had been tested.
“Client sign-off pending. Staff can find files faster, and backups are simpler.”
