Swinburne is a world-ranked university leading the way in innovation, industry engagement and social inclusion. Swinburne’s education, high-quality research and industry partnerships create positive change for students, staff and the community.
The University was going through rapid change and uplift programs, and they required a highly skilled and pragmatic Business Architect.
Swinburne required training and process improvements to be put in place to help lift the level of maturity of Change, Release and Problem Management.
As acting Business Architect and Change Manager, Comans’ approach was to help uplift the work practices and collaboration through a series of workshops, coaching and mentoring.
We devised a plan to do the following:
Stage 1: Perform a current state assessment by documenting and interviewing everyone
Stage 2: Designing a future state operating model with processes and procedures for Change, Release, Problem and Incident Management.
Stage 3: Develop and deliver on the implementation roadmap for an improved operating model within IT
Comans delivered on improved work practices around ITIL and Process Design and Architecture.
By uplifting Service Design and ITIL practices such as root cause analysis, problem management, change and incident managment, we helped to deliver a more mature process model moving forward.
By re-designing Change management and adding appropriate controls, we were able to help Swinburne achieve great results in audits and compliance checks.
The results are a more controlled and stable environment, while still maintaining throughput and productivity of all projects.
